Review of 2007
Gillian is enjoying life as Research Associate on an e-learning project in the Medical School at the University of Manchester. Life continues for Martin at Sheffield Hallam University - more on Gillian's Pages and Martin's Pages.
We have had less time for village life this year, but enjoyed Wakes Week and marshalling for our Fell Race. Martin is now a Parish Councillor for the Civil Parish of Little Hucklow. We are both occasional members of the dominoes team at the Queen Anne in Great Hucklow, which gives us a chance to catch up on village life.
We went skiing in Chamonix in January, and again in Davos in April.
Our interest in wild flowers took us on an orchid-spotting weekend to Kent in May. The Peak District National Park Authority asked Gillian to do some wild flower screening surveys to identify potential road verge reserves for wild flowers, and we were sent to remote lanes all over the Peak District in some magical weekends in June.
We have enjoyed seeing beautiful scenery when walking. Gillian led a Ski Club of Great Britain walk around Castleton in July. She also enjoys short walks on occasional weekends with one of the villagers. Her walking has been somewhat curtailed this year since wearing out her walking boots - the replacements just aren't as comfortable!
Martin acquires a friend - Ski Club of Great Britain walk, July 2007, Lose Hill, Castleton.
